2023 24 Hours of Le Mans – Safety measures tailored for the Centenary

The historic nature of this year's running of the 24 Hours calls for special safety measures, so all emergency services, security personnel and government services will be mobilised to ensure the perfect spectator experience.

The 24 Hours Centenary on 10-11 June is a major international event just three months before the Rugby World Cup and one year ahead of the Summer Olympic Games in Paris. The Automobile Club de l’Ouest is determined to give spectators the best possible experience, putting into effect a “zero crime” plan to guarantee rapid and appropriate mobilisation of all resources as necessary.

Smoother moving about

New traffic procedures and pedestrian walkways spanning the boulevard des Italiens have been established to facilitate access to the circuit. Road safety operations including motorcyclists in traffic areas are also on the programme.

Reinforced security

Additional human resources from the Police, Gendarmerie, SNCF, Customs as well as Setram mediation agents will be deployed in public transportation areas.

Inside and around the circuit, spectators can count on a remote police station, pedestrian and equestrian patrols as well as a video protection system.

An advanced medical post for rescue teams (SMUR, EPMU, CHM, CUMP, SDIS), a hospital for on-site care and an evacuation helicopter will be available to handle any and all situations as needed. Also, fire response will be on the alert inside and outside the circuit.
