8 / 24 - Wednesday, 8th December - HPD the benchmark of LM P2
On both sides of the Atlantic, the prototype designed by Acura, Honda's U.S. subsidiary, has successfully replaced the Porsche RS Spyder at the top of the LM P2 category.
HPD ARX-01c. The name is certainly a little cryptic, but Honda Performance Development (HPD) can be proud of the harvest of success achieved with this car in 2010, both in the ALMS, Le Mans Series and 24 Hours Le Mans.
In the United States, the ARX-01c has successfully secured the succession of LM P1 prototype ARX-02a, 2009 with ALMS champion Scott Sharp and David Brabham (Highcroft Racing). The latter won his second consecutive title in the U.S on 2010, this time with Simon Pagenaud.
In Europe, the ARX-01c is run by Strakka Racing. Driven by Jonny Kane, Danny Watts and Nick Leventis, it won overall in the 1000 km from the Hungaroring, the fourth round Le Mans Series 2010. Two months earlier it had won its class at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In la Sarthe, the Japanese prototype has even entered into history, becoming the first LM P2 to surpass the 5,000 km mark.
And don't forget the driver and team titles in LM P2 won by RML in the Le Mans Series, with the engine of the ARX-01c installed in a Lola coupe. A real coup for the Japanese manufacturer, with a new dominance in LM P2 booming, with changing technology.
