24 Highlights of 2015 (18) - Two drivers, three classes

Throughout the 2015 endurance season, Brit Nick Tandy, winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and French driver Kevin Estre have happily navigated between prototypes and GT.

In addition to having Porsche's esteem, Nick Tandy and Kevin Estre share another common denominator: in 2015, they took the start at the 24 Hours of Le Mans at the wheel of a prototype for the first time.

Nick Tandy, between prototypes and GT - The Brit literally had a dream season, with a double program as a factory driver for Porsche and the Chinese team KCMG. He is also the only driver to have won both in LM P1 and LM P2. Other than his win at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with the Porsche 919 Hybrid (LM P1), along with New Zealander Earl Bamber and German driver Nico Hülkenberg, he also won in the LM P2 class at the 6 Hours of Nürburgring at the wheel of KCMG's Oreca 05. His grand finale was a clear win at Petit Le Mans at the Road Atlanta circuit for the closing round of the American endurance season, in a Porsche 911 RSR shared with Patrick Pilet and Richard Lietz.

Kevin Estre, between Porsche and Ligier - The French driver competed at the WEC 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the big rehearsal before the 24 Hours of Le Mans, finishing third in the LM GTE Pro class with a factory 911 RSR. Then he moved to the LM P2 class for his first 24 Hours of Le Mans, at the wheel of French team OAK Racing's Ligier JS P2-Honda. The performance power was there (his Belgian teammate Laurens Vanthoor, who was also racing for the first time at Le Mans, clocked the best time in the class during Test Day on May 31st), but the No. 34 Ligier was forced to retire on Sunday with less than two hours to go in the race. But, we will find Kevin Estre at the forefront in 2016 undoubtedly: he has just been confirmed as an official Porsche driver in LM GTE Pro, where he will rejoin his fellow countrymen Frédéric Makowiecki and Patrick Pilet...as well as Nick Tandy, the winner at the 2015 24 Hours.

For his third participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Nick Tandy was at the wheel of a prototype for the first time ever - and his teammates, Nico Hülkenberg and Earl Bamber, were racing at Le Mans for the first time ever. Together, they won a stunning victory.
