24 highlights of 2015 - (2) Preeminent Porsche

Porsche had a triumphant season, clinching a seventeenth victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, claiming the drivers

24 Hours of Le Mans and the World Endurance Championship: Lucky 17 - In 2015, Porsche claimed pole position at Le Mans for the seventeenth time, thanks to Neel Jani in the #18 919 Hybrid. It was a good omen, for Nico Hülkenberg, Nick Tandy and Earl Bamber later brought home the trophy, the seventeenth outright win, seventeen years after the last. Timo Bernhard, Brendon Hartley and Mark Webber became World Champions with the #17 car in the last round of the season, the 6 Hours of Bahrain. Porsche also won the constructor’s championship, having banked eight pole positions and six wins in eight races.

The Porsche 911 still raring to go - For the first time since the championship began, Ferrari lost the GT constructor and driver titles to Porsche and driver Richard Lietz. The 911 added another feat to its impressive track record by becoming the first GT to win Petit Le Mans, the closing race of the American endurance season. In the GTLM class of the American SportsCar Championship, the 911 took all three titles: team, constructor and driver, for Frenchman Patrick Pilet.
