24 Hours of Le Mans - 1967 & 2017: two key years for Ford (video)

Forty years ago, Ford won the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the second time in a row, that year with the #1 Ford Mk IV. In 2017, Ford will try to repeat the feat by winning the LMGTE Pro class on the heels of its victory in 2016.

This year, Ford is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the second of its four consecutive wins at Le Mans. Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt won the 1967 24 Hours with the American marque, and in this video reflect back on the achievement.

Four decades later, Ford is looking to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans a second time in a row in the LMGTE Pro class. To reach that goal, the Detroit manufacturer is entering four Ford GTs via two teams:

Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK:

#66: Stefan Mücke, Olivier Pla, Billy Johnson

#67: Andy Priaulx, Harry Tincknell, Luis Felipe Derani

Ford Chip Ganassi Team USA:

#68: Dirk Müller, Joey Hand, Tony Kanaan

#69: Ryan Briscoe, Richard Westbrook, Scott Dixon

In this video, Richard Westbrook, Joey Hand and Ryan Briscoe compare 1967 to 2017. Perhaps the #67 will win 40 years after its sister car….
