Administrative and Technical Verifications

The 24 Hours of Le Mans doesn't just last a weekend! Endurance fans know, the Technical and Administrative Verifications, historically, launch the big week of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. In 2016, they will take place on Sunday, June 12th in downtown Le Mans. Starting at 2:30 p.m. and ending at 7:00 p.m., the 58 competitors invited to the 24 Hours of Le Mans will submit to the Technical and Administrative Verifications, a process commonly known as Scrutineering.

Scrutineering is not a simple formality! It's the buzz of the Place de la République! Imagine, for two consecutive days, one can admire the cars in the smallest detail. The "show" is free. Downtown Le Mans becomes the perfect showcase for families, friends and couples to enjoy as motorsports fans the cars that will take the track on Wednesday for the first free practice sessions. The drivers go through a series of checks (compliance of licences and safety equipment) and fulfill a few media obligations (official photo, interview). The cars are also checked by the technical marshals. Nothing gets by them, the cars must strictly respect the regulations. 

On the stage specifically set up for the occasion, all the drivers line up and take part in a Q&A session. It's possible to chat with some of them and most sign autographs and/or pose for a souvenir photo. A very fun time, based on shared enthusiasm, which festively launches the big week of Le Mans.
