24 Hours of Le Mans 2016 - Frédéric Sausset has driven the Morgan LM P2

Of the entry list for the 84th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, this year the project destined for Garage 56, reserved for innovative projects, will be quite special. Fr

Before the Automobile Club de l'Ouest press conference on February 5th, which made official the SRT41 team's participation, the Morgan powered by Nissan was tweaked on the track. A first time for the driver. "He drove the car that will race at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It's an incredible project, and today everything that has been considered before is now coming together on the asphalt, and rolling," says Christophe Tinseau. "I have never experienced anything like it. I have definitely had a lot of moments in my career, but this is quite different."

Though Frédéric Sausset has already driven prototypes, namely in the V de V Endurance Series, this was his first time in an LM P2 class car. A big moment, which marks a new stage in the journey of this man who became a quad-amputee in 2012. "I felt like I needed to seek fulfillment through some type of adventure, with an extraordinary challenge, and what could be greater than the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the motorsports world? It was hard to accept, to absorb mentally. How could a guy who has never done even one race, and on top of that a quad-amputee, be able to compete in the toughest race in the world?"

This world premiere that will take place in June is the fruit of a collaboration between many partners. It is also very important to the men and women involved. "The human factor in this adventure is huge," confides Benoît Bagur, Technical Director of Onroak, constructor of the chassis used by the team. "In the motorsports realm, only endurance races allow for this sort of challenge to be met."

Sausset will now just have to wait a few months before the big moment at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. "I am ready. There is still a lot of work to be done technically, and in terms of training, physical preparedness, but I am ready."
