24h Le Mans
24 Hours of Le Mans fans who choose to watch the race at Arnage will be able to enjoy a whole new view! Work has been done to improve visibility for spectators and to welcome campers.
It all started with a new roundabout put in place at Arnage by the joint union owner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit (a union comprised of Council of the county, the region, greater Le Mans and the city of Le Mans). The idea was to ensure a junction used by more than 10,000 vehicles each day and considered at risk for motorists.
"We took the opportunity to complete two projects, explains Ghislain Robert, Head of the ACO's Pôle Le Mans Resort. On one hand we improved the experience campers will have relative to roads, lighting and sanitation. The campground was expanded from 220 to 300 spots. Campers will now be able to set up as of the Sunday before the 24 Hours of Le Mans, instead of waiting until Wednesday."
The other strategic change: a new spectator area at Arnage, located at a part of the circuit coveted by fans. "Before, spectators could only see the cars once they entered the Arnage turn. Now, thanks to the new arrangement, they will be able to see the cars coming from Mulsanne and taking on the Indianapolis corner. In that area, cars will literally drive around the spectators!"
The new prime location at Arnage is also disabled-accessible, with areas for food catering and food vendors.
