24 Hours of Le Mans driver objects up at auction for a good cause

The American company Lemons of Love (LOL), distributor of therapeutic kits to patients in cancer treatment, is organizing an online auction with objects previously owned by winning 24 Hours of Le Mans drivers and teams.

The Starworks Motorsport outfit who won in the LM P2 class at the 2012 24 Hours donated coveralls in which Allan McNish, three-time winner at Le Mans, competed at the Rolex 24 at Daytona. The Scottish driver, who retired at the end of the 2013 season, joined Peter Baron's outfit in 2012 and 2013 (second overall) when the race was still a part of the Grand Am championship before the merger with the American Le Mans Series.

It was with another Scottish driver, Ryan Dalziel, that Starworks Motorsport won in its class at Le Mans. He donated his helmet visor and a pair of fireproof shoes, like official Ford driver Joey Hand who also donated a part of his equipment that should be quite popular with endurance fans: fireproof coveralls in Ford Chip Ganassi Racing's 2015 colours. The American team will enter four Ford GTs at the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year.

Lastly, a scale model of the No. 53 Viper that competed at Le Mans in 2015 in the LM GTE Am class is also for sale until Saturday, April 9th at 9:45 p.m. (U.S. East Coast time, or Sunday, April 10th at 2:45 a.m. in the U.K.), during non-profit company Lemons of Love's annual gala near Chicago, Illinois.
