24 Hours of Le Mans - Felipe Nasr joins Cetilar Villorba Corse in the Dallara

There will be quite a few former Formula One drivers at the 24 Hours of Le Mans (16-17 June), especially in the LMP2 class. A new name has now been added to the list (after Juan Pablo Montoya, Jean-Eric Vergne and Pastor Maldonado): Felipe Nasr, who drove for Sauber F1 Team in 2015-16. He will be in the Dallara P217-Gibson with Cetilar Villorba Corse at Le Mans.

Cetilar Villorba Corse has just revealed that Felipe Nasr will be their third driver in the #47 Dallara P217-Gibson in the LMP2 class. He replaces Andrea Belicchi, who has injured his back, for the full European Le Mans Series and at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 16-17 June. The Brazilian will share driving duties with Giorgio Sernagiotto and Roberto Lacorte. He completed a total 80 laps in the car during the tests held in Le Castellet.

Felipe Nasr competed in 39 Formula One Grand Prix races for Sauber F1 Team, his best result a P5 finish in Australia in 2015. He already has some experience of endurance racing, as he competes in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship for Cadillac (Action Express Racing). He finished second at the 24 Hours of Daytona and third at the 12 Hours of Sebring. It will however be him maiden Le Mans appearance. “I’m delighted to have this opportunity to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It’s a dream come true.”

His first race with the outfit will be on 13 May at the second round of the ELMS in Monza (Italy).
