New Endurance Driver World Champion with Toyota (a title he shares with Anthony Davidson), Sébastien Buemi finished third after a nice climb from the back of the grid. He was preceded on the second step on the podium by Lucas di Grassi, official Audi driver both in endurance and in the FIA Formula E. Winner in Beijing of the very first race of this new discipline dedicated to 100% electric single-seaters, the Brazilian driver is at the lead of the provisional standing in front of the day's winner, Sam Bird. Driver of AF Corse's Ferrari 458 Italia at this year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, the Brit was one of the victims of the storm that flooded the circuit early in the race.
In addition to Buemi and di Grassi, three other drivers went to Bahrain in Putrajaya. In pole position, but penalized following his stunning incident with Nick Heidfeld in the last lap of the Beijing race, Nicolas Prost finished fourth, while the German driver fell victim to a new dust-up, this time with French driver Franck Montagny. As to Stéphane Sarrazin, winner of the 6 Hours of Bahrain and teammate of Heidfeld in the FIA Formula E, he finished 12th.
On November 30th, at the 6 Hours of Sao Paulo, last round of the 2014 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season, Heidfeld and Prost will take the wheel of the No. 12 Rebellion R-One, di Grassi will join Tom Kristensen and di Grassi in the No. 1 Audi R18 e-tron quattro, while Sarrazin and Buemi will attempt to give Toyota the LM P1 constructor world title, at the wheel of the No. 7 and No. 8 TS040 Hybrids, respectively. The third ePrix (official name for FIA Formula E races) will take place December 13th in Punta del Este (Uruguay).
