24 Hours of Le Mans - Friday afternoon news in brief

All competitors set to participate this Sunday in Test Day for the 24 Hours of Le Mans have completed the administrative checks and Scrutineering. Larbre Competition, SMP Racing and Rubens Barrichello are the topics of this Friday afternoon update.

  • Art Car livery for Larbre Competition's Corvette C7-Z06

For this 85th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Larbre Competition decided to decorate its #50 Chevrolet Corvette C7-Z06 in an artistic livery. It's the work of painter Ramzi Adek, called "Human" and is all pop and fluorescent colors inspired by American superhero comics. The car certainly catches one's eye on the track and even changes faces at night.

  • Driver extraction test for IDEC SPORT Racing's Ligier JSP217-Gibson

This morning after submitting to Scrutineering, the IDEC SPORT Racing team's Ligier JSP217-Gibson served as a guinea pig for an injured driver extraction simulation. It's an intervention that requires the utmost care, and for the extraction teams calls for training and memorization.

  • SMP Racing's trial by fire

For SMP Racing, Test Day for the 24 Hours of Le Mans is of crucial importance. Indeed, after two seasons of developing, running and entering the BR01 in the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC), the Russian team will now participate with a Dallara P217-Gibson. In preparation for the 24 Hours, Boris Rotenberg's team conducted two days of testing sessions at the Monza circuit in Italy. Test Day will allow SMP Racing to collect precious information about the chassis before heading into the free practice, qualifying and the race itself. The car will be driven by Russian drivers Mikhail Aleshin, Sergey Sirotkin and Victor Shaytar, and the Italian Maurizio Mediani.

  • The latest Michel Vaillant book is available

Highly anticipated by fans of the 24 Hours of Le Mans and comic books, the latest Michel Vaillant edition was released today. Entitled Rebellion, it is the sixth stunning episode and the tension is just as palpable.

  • Rubens Barrichello is on the scene

The record-holder for the most starts in Formula 1 (323 Grand Prix) is getting ready to participate in his first 24 Hours of Le Mans at the wheel of Racing Team Nederland's #29 Dallara P217-Gibson. The Brazilian driver is already present in the paddock at the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit. As the regulations stipulate, as a rookie he will need to complete at least 10 laps during Test Day on Sunday.

  • The ELMS out in force

Among the 60 competitors at the 85th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, no less than 17 are participating in this year's European Le Mans Series season which makes it the second largest provider of entrants after the FIA WEC! Eleven will compete in the LMP2 class and six in LMGTE Am.

  • A new livery as well for Algarve Pro Racing's Ligier JSP217-Gibson

The Portuguese team has joined forces with Sarthe Objectif 24 (SO 24). As a result, the #45 Ligier JSP217-Gibson driven by Mark Patterson, Matthew McMurry and Vincent Capillaire has traded its typical blue and white livery for one that blends orange, white, black and purple. The car was presented this afternoon in downtown Le Mans. SO 24, whose goal is to encourage Le Mans area drivers to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, sponsors Vincent Capillaire.
