24 Hours of Le Mans - Green flag for the Le Mans Esports Series final!

The Le Mans Esports Series final kicked off in the Circuit’s Fan Zone at 11:00 this morning! The 36 drivers that make up the 12 teams on the virtual grid are now well into their marathon gaming session!

The final opened with a two-hour round on the former Le Mans circuit (layout with the chicanes on the Mulsanne Straight) at 11:00 this morning. For that round, the drivers were competing in a 1960s prototype, the Cobra Daytona, so there was sure to be some spectacular drifting to entertain the fans!

The starter for this first ever Le Mans Esports Series Super Final was Rebellion Racing’s Thomas Laurent, driver of the #3 Rebellion R13-Gibson. The tension was palpable as he signalled the start of the 24-hour event. The gamers on French team Baguette Racing, who were in pole position, didn’t get off to the best of starts but Alexandre Astiou (Asix) jumped back into the lead at Indianapolis.

The players had been rehearsing their strategy up until the final minutes before the start. Some stood apart, focusing their minds. Other teams, such as Kitty Krew, practised the Le Mans-style start with Raceboy77 running to jump into his driver’s seat on the starting signal. There was a spine-tingling air of expectancy and you could almost hear the adrenaline pumping, much like the real 24 Hours of Le Mans!

The first round was won by the MAD Motorsport team, with Veloce Esports second and Baguette Racing third. The whole event lasts 24 Hours and you can watch all the action live.
