This is the last chance for competitors in this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans to improve the position on the starting grid. The record field of 62 cars has now dropped to 61 with the withdrawal of the Dempsey-Proton Racing #99 Porsche 911 RSR earlier this evening. The German car had been repaired after Tracy Krohn’s crash on Wednesday evening, but the American, until then the oldest driver in the race, has agreed to comply with the FIA’s recommended protocol of a week’s recovery.
At midnight, we will know the pole positions and grid for Saturday’s race. But until then, here are how things stand:
LMP1 pole: #7 Toyota TS050, Toyota Gazoo Racing, 3:15.497.
LMP2 pole: #31 Oreca 07, DragonSpeed, 3:26.390.
LMGTE Pro pole: #92 Porsche 911 RSR, Porsche GT Team, 3:49.388.
LMGTE Am pole: #88 Porsche 911 RSR, Dempsey - Proton Racing, 3:52.454
