24 Hours of Le Mans - Jean-Philippe Belloc joins Larbre Compétition (Corvette)

Paolo Ruberti, a regular driver with Larbre Compétition in the World Endurance Championship (WEC), having withdrawn from the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will be replaced by Jean-Philippe Belloc for the race in the French Corvette C7.R.

Already absent at Test Day, Ruberti suffered a back injury during a coaching session at the Hockenheim circuit and will be unable to take the start at the 84th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. To make up for his absence, the Larbre Compétition outfit called upon Jean-Philippe Belloc and Nicky Catsburg for Test Day. Though Catsburg clocked the best time in the LM GTE Am class, in the end Belloc will take the wheel of the Corvette C7.R along with Yutaka Yamagashi and Pierre Ragues.

With nine participations at Le Mans (two class podium finishes in GT), Belloc has the necessary experience to replace Ruberti right away, especially since he knows Larbre Compétition well having won the FIA GT championship and the 24 Hours of Spa in 2001 with Jack Leconte's team. And, for his last appearance at Le Mans, in 2012, the former Formula Renault and F3 Champion of France was behind the wheel of the French outfit's second Corvette C6.R (fifth in LM GTE Am).

Belloc, driver of the No. 50 Corvette C7.R: "I am delighted to have been chosen by Jack Leconte to replace Paolo Ruberti, to whom everybody sends their best wishes, for this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans. It’s a very nice show of trust and a great privilege to defend the colours of Larbre Competition in the world’s greatest endurance race. The LMGTE AM category is quite competitive this year but I think we have a very solid package. The Corvette C7.R has proven its worth and the team has what it takes to challenge for a good result."
