24 Hours of Le Mans - LM P2, Alpine and the Russians

French carmaker Alpine takes a well-deserved victory in LM P2, followed by two Russian teams: G-Drive Racing and SMP Racing.

Nicolas Lapierre (#36 Alpine A460, Signatech Alpine, winner of LM P2): “It’s great to win with Alpine. It’s a big responsibility and very symbolic for many French people. It’s a very emotional win. We did really well, the team did a superb job with excellent pitstops and we proved that a team with young drivers can do great things."

Stéphane Richelmi (#36 Alpine A460, Signatech Alpine, winner of LM P2): "We couldn’t have hoped for better. I can’t quite believe we’ve won here just after winning Spa. I’m going to savour this victory and will be continuing in endurance."

Gustavo Menezes (#36 Alpine A460, Signatech Alpine, winner of LM P2): "It was a fantastic week. It’s a dream come true to win here. Everything went well. Everyone did a fantastic job. It’s a well-deserved victory."

Roman Rusinov (#26 Oreca 05, G-Drive Racing, 2nd in LM P2): “We were well prepared, but we turned out to be the champions of the penalty category. Everytime we lost ground we gained it back. We’re very happy that the car ran well mechanically."

Vitaly Petrov (#37 BR01, SMP Racing, 3rd in LM P2): "It was a difficult weekend. We worked hard on the BR01 to catch up. The pitstops were perfect. Nobody made any mistakes. There were no spins, no going off, no punctures."
