24 Hours of Le Mans - Marino Franchitti gets to grips with the Ford GT40 (video)

Ford are on the verge of renewing ties with their glorious Endurance past, the Detroit-based marque having won the 24 Hours of Le Mans four times in a row from 1966 to '69. Marino Franchitti recently took a break from his preparations for the World Endurance Championship to step back in time and take the 1966 Le Mans-winning Ford GT40 for a thrilling spin.

Ford Chip Ganassi Team UK driver Marino Franchitti climbed in behind the wheel of the Ford GT40 at Turweston (UK) while his teammates were testing in readiness for the World Endurance Championship season that kicks off at Silverstone this Sunday, 17 April.

The Scotsman took great delight in discovering the legendary sportscar as this short film shows. This weekend, though, he will be swapping back to the #67 Ford GT shared with Andy Priaulx and Harry Tincknell.
