24 Hours of Le Mans – Reactions from the FIA World Endurance LMGTE Am title winners

By finishing second in the 87th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Team Project 1's #56 Porsche 911 RSR won the FIA World Endurance LMGTE Am Drivers and Teams titles. Drivers Jörg Bergmeister, Egidio Perfetti and Patrick Lindsey give us their reactions.

Jörg Bergmeister

"I feel very proud. It wasn't quite easy. When Patrick and I had our first meeting with Team Project 1, they said yeah, the first year we're just going to watch and learn, and I immediately said no, we do it right or we don't do it (laughs, Ed.). So I kept pushing pretty hard through the years, and probably wasn't the team favourite at times, but I think everyone is really happy that we achieved the title and really proud of it."

"We are looking forward to coming back, with two cars."

Egidio Perfetti

"It's extraordinary. It has been quite a ride and as you (Bergmeister, Ed.) said, it wasn't easy. We've had our issues. It was quite a strong ramp up with the team being in the WEC for the first time. But yeah, we are extremely proud of the team, how it succeeded. And I think the drivers did a great job and we also have strong support from Porsche which was great. I think to be able to do two Le Mans in the same season was incredible. We are looking forward to coming back, with two cars. I think the team is still working out some of those details."

Patrick Lindsey

"I can't thank my co-drivers enough. Two years ago this Super Season project started for me when I came here wanting to test the waters in the WEC after many years racing in the IMSA championship in the States. To Jörg's point, we kind of took on a project starting from scratch, but it paid off in the end. We all pushed, all three of us, and pushed ourselves as well. That's what it takes to win a championship and have something special to remember. You know, nothing that comes easy is worth while. So I think we can look back on the year that we had and we can say that we grew together, the team grew together through pain and through fire (laughs, Ed.), and we bonded."
