24 Hours of Le Mans - Road to Le Mans race 2

The second Road to Le Mans race of the weekend ended with victory for Cool Racing, also on the grid of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Like yesterday, the FFF Racing Teamby ACM Lamborghini was first across the line at the chequered flag, but this time with very little to spare.

The race began under safety car conditions for two laps. Pzoberer Zurichsee by TFT’s #2 Porsche 911 RSR in the hands of Nicolas Leutwiler was out of the running from the start following an accident on exiting the pit lane.

Once the Safety Cars peeled off, Nicolas Maulini (#37 Ligier), Jean Glorieux (#3 Duqueine) and Rory Penttinen (#26 Ligier) built a comfortable lead over the rest of the field.

After the mandatory pit stops, they were down to two: the #37 Ligier and the #3 Duqueine, six seconds ahead of Matt Bell in the Cool Racing #69 Ligier. Meanwhile, the #26 and #27 Ligier waged battle for fifth place with the #11 Duqueine. The #26 won the tussle while the #15 and #27 fought for sixth.

After a fleeting appearance in the top five overall during the mandatory pit stops, the #63 Lamborghini held the lead in GT3 from the Kessel Racing #74 Ferrari and the SKY Tempesta Racing #93. Only five seconds separated the three. But the race to the line was between the first two. At the chequered flag, the Lamborghini squeezed in by 0.488.

The LMP3 podium saw the #37 Ligier in first, the DKR Engineering #3 Duqueine second and the #69 third. At the first Road to Le Mans race yesterday, the #3 took victory ahead of the two Cool Racing cars.
