24 Hours of Le Mans : Stoffel Vandoorne put through his paces on the AOTech simulator

Belgian racer Stoffel Vandoorne completed a session on the AOTech simulator in Tigery today (Wednesday 22 May) in preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans (15-16 June). This is a mandatory step for all rookies entering the classic endurance race.

Stoffel Vandoorne had a chance to put his driving skills to the test today on the AOTech simulator in Tigery, near Paris. The Belgian driver completed the six exercises set by the Automobile Club de l’Ouest in preparation for the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The session included familiarisation with the circuit, coping with changing weather conditions, driving in the dark, managing traffic day and night, memorising the positions of the track marshals and a slow zone test.

Stoffel Vandoorne, SMP Racing (#11): It was a good day, my first experience of Le Mans on this AOTech simulator. I don’t know the circuit, so it was useful to see how to approach the turns, and how to manage traffic and the slow zones. My first race at Le Mans is bound to be very special. I am looking forward to the experience with SMP Racing.

This training session is mandatory for all rookies like Stoffel. Coming up: Test Day at the “real” circuit on 2 June, with free admission for holders of a General Enclosure pass.
