24 Hours of Le Mans - The Ginetta LMP1 hits the track for the first time (video)

After its unveiling at Autosport International in Birmingham just a few days ago, Ginetta started doing laps with its all-new LMP1 prototype. The car's debut in competition will take place at the Total 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, the first round of the 2018/2019 Super Season of the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC), at the beginning of May before participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 16th and 17th.

The Ginetta LMP1, known by the code name "G60-LT-P1" and powered by a Mecachrome V6, has just completed its first laps on the track at the airport in Leeds, the city home to the Ginetta factory. Everything went smoothly for its first kilometers on a wet track, with no apparent concerns or problems. This first test run last Friday was conducted under the watchful eye of the heads of TRS Racing Manor, the private team set to field the car in the LMP1 class in the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC) 2018/2019 Super Season. Official driver Mike Simpson was at the wheel and did several round trips on the track. Check out the action in this video.

Now, Ginetta will develop the car through intensive testing at a circuit in southern Europe.
