24 Hours of Le Mans –The lowdown on Qualifying 2 and 3

We’ve crunched the numbers from the second and third qualifying sessions yesterday.

2: the number of cars faster than the bar of 3:16.00 per lap.

They were the two Toyota hybrids. 3:15.497 for the #7 Toyota TS050 Hybrid of Kamui Kobayashi, and 3:15.908 for the #8 Toyota TS050 Hybrid of Kazuki Nakajima.

347.8 kph: the fastest top speed recorded on Wednesday and Thursday. 

Vitaly Petrov reached this speed with SMP Racing's #11 BR Engineering BR1-AER, while Stéphane Sarrazin clocked 346.7 kph with the #11 BR Engineering BR1-AER sister car.

8: the number of LMGTE Pro cars that exceeded a top speed of 300 kmp during the sessions.

Corvette Racing's #63 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R was quickest at 302.2 kph.

13’’455: the time it took André Lotterer to make it through the Porsche sector.

The Porsche sector is often cited by drivers as one of the most challenging in terms of pure driving. André Lotterer at the wheel of Rebellion Racing's #1 Rebellion R13-Gibson did it in 13’’455 at an average 276.1 kph.

4: the number of LMGTE Pro cars in the same second at the end of qualifying.

The #95 Aston Martin Vantage clocked the best qualifying time in 3:48.00, shadowed in the same second by the #67 Ford GT, the #63 Chevrolet Corvette C7.R and the #93 Porsche 911 RSR.
