24 Hours of Le Mans – Veloce Esports wins the Le Mans Esports Series

David Kelly, Noah Schmitz and James Baldwin (winner of the 2018 eROC race) are the first Le Mans Esports Series champions in history.

American team Veloce Esports has won the first edition of the Le Mans Esports Series. The outcome of the final was decided in the last of the nine races. French team Baguette Racing, who had dominated for nearly 24 hours, had to bow out. David Kelly, Noah Schmitz and James Baldwin (2018 eROC race winner and relatively new to Forza Motorsport 7) are the first champions ever in this competition.

They ended the first round in second place, and the goal was not to trail behind the leader significantly going into the last start. Indeed, the ninth race determined the winner of the first Le Mans Esports Series final, the eight first races having decided the starting grid and time gaps.

For the last race, Baguette Racing started in first position, followed by Kitty Krew at 7 seconds, with MAD Motorsport and Veloce Esports at 15 seconds. This race, at the 24 Hours of Le Mans circuit, ended going the way of Veloce Esports. Confidence was the name of the game for Alexandre Arnou (Asix), familiar with this sort of situation with the BMW M8 GTE of Baguette Racing. But, he had to contend with a problem of feeling in the brakes, and felt ill at ease with the reset parameters. So, Aurélien Mohammedi-Mallet (RBR Laige) took the wheel and demonstrated the talent level for which he's known, holding the lead for a long while before Noah Schmitz (Veloce_Virus) overtook him going into the Mulsanne Straight late in the race. One more stint remained and David Kelly (Sauber_Dave) held his own against Christopher Cabrera (ESC Chris).

The French team's frustration was palpable. The three drivers had dominated the various races but still leave winless. Only the classification of the last race decides the winner.
