At the 6 Hours of Fuji, Porsche returned to the forefront in LM GTE Pro, thanks to Marc Lieb, Richard Lietz and the Porsche 911 GT3 RSR of Team Felbermayr-Proton.

Porsche hold the record for victories in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with a total of sixteen wins, but had not won this year since the 6 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps WEC. After starting from pole position at the 6 Hours of Silverstone but the 911 GT3 RSR did not convert that into a win. After four consecutive victories of the AF Corse Ferrari, Team Felbermayr-Proton  has a perfect weekend at Fuji, with pole and victory in LM GTE Pro.

Richard Lietz (Driver Porsche 911 GT3 RSR n°77, Team Felbermayr-Proton, LM GTE Pro) :  “That was a perfect weekend for us, from the very first day we were the fastest and could maintain our pace over the entire race distance.”

Marc Lieb (Driver Porsche 911 GT3 RSR n°77, Team Felbermayr-Proton, LM GTE Pro) : “This second win of the season is entirely of our own doing, without rain and without having benefited from a safety car phase. We were able to utilise the full potential of the 911 GT3 RSR on this track. The conditions were exactly what we had hoped for.”

The second car of Team Felbermayr-Proton in the LM GTE Am class, driven by Christian Ried, Gianluca Roda and Paolo Ruberti, finished third in class at Fuji. Only twenty points behind in the standings, they can still hope to catch the Corvette of the French team Larbre on the 28th of October 28 at the 6 Hours of Shanghai the final round of the FIA World Endurance Championship.
