A busy schedule for Onroak Automotive (Ligier) in 2016

A new LM P2 prototype in prep for 2017, two divisions - American and Asian - to set up all while producing the Ligier JS P2s and JS P3s for competitors and providing technical support to its clients: the Onroak Automotive program is one of the most loaded for 2016.

Though a few years ago Onroak Automotive was presented as the constructor branch of the OAK Racing team, the trend has now reversed since only two LM P3 prototypes are entered under its banner in the European Le Mans Series. OAK Racing personnel will nonetheless be at the circuits of the World Endurance Championship (WEC) in a support role as a result of a partnership with Extreme Speed Motorsports who will enter two Ligier JS P2s in LM P2.

Also, new regulations will go into effect in 2017 for the LM P2 class with only four constructors allowed to furnish chassis to competitors. Onroak Automotive being one of them, the studies office, under the helm of Nicolas Clémençon, is in full swing so as to provide information relative to the Ligier JS P217 to regulatory bodies by the end of March for standardization prior to June 1st, according to the established schedule.

A full schedule since Onroak Automotive is also present, through its clients, in Asia with the Asian Le Mans Series and in the U.S. with the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, new moniker of the TUDOR United SportsCar Championship. Actually a Ligier JS P2 won at the Rolex 24 at Daytona, first round of the season, at the end of January thanks to Extreme Speed Motorsports. To be as close as possible to its outfit clients, Onroak Automotive created a branch in the U.S. in 2015 and is preparing to open a workshop in Asia.

Lastly, many of the outfits who have a Ligier are preparing for the new season and conducting test sessions at which Onroak Automotive personnel provides technical support, as was the case during the first laps made by Frédéric Sausset, the quad-amputee who will take the start at the 84th edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in Garage 56, reserved for innovative technologies, with a Morgan adapted to his disability.

Whether on the track, with the testing session, or in the workshops, furnishing on time to clients, the schedule is extremely busy. Off season? Not for Onroak Automotive!
