A look back at Nissan's 24 Hours of Le Mans (video)
The 2015 24 Hours of Le Mans marked Nissan's return to the LM P1 class. With its bold hybrid project, the Japanese giant created what is called ample "buzz." Three Nissan GT-R LM Nismos were entered. A look back at their participation.
Three GT-R LM NISMO units were on the track:
- The No. 21 was shared by Tsugio Matsuda, Mark Shulzhitskiy and Lucas Ordoñez. The car was painted in the colours of the Nissan R90CK that scored pole position at the 1990 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was the first of the Nissans forced to retire following the loss of a wheel nine hours into the race.
- Harry Tincknell, Michael Krumm and Alex Buncombe took turns in the No. 22. It was the first to finish but unranked, the car finishing 153 laps behind the winner, the No. 19 Porsche Hybrid.
- The No. 23 of Olivier Pla, Jann Mardenborough and Max Chilton was forced to retire as well with a suspension problem one hour from the finish.
Relive the three cars' race with commentary from Darren Cox (NISMO Global Head of Brand, Marketing and Sales) as well as commentary from the drivers.
