Oliver Gavin was born on September 29, 1972 in Huntingdon in Great Britain. After karting, he spent his first few years in single-seaters (winner of the British Formula 3 Championship in 1995, competed in several Formula 3000 races) and even conducted private testing sessions for various Formula 1 teams (Pacific Racing in 1995, Mild Seven Benetton Renault from 1997 to 2001 and Renault F1 Team in 2002).

But the British driver is best known in Endurance enthusiast circles. He was crowned the American Le Mans Series champion three times and once in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship (2016). In the GT class, he has won the most renowned Endurance races in the world: the 12 Hours of Sebring six times (2001, 2002, 2006, 2007, 2013 and 2016), Petit Le Mans five times (2002, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2010) and the Rolex 24 at Daytona in 2016.

Oliver Gavin has competed at 17 editions of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. His first appearance dates back to 2001 when he took the wheel of a Saleen S7R as a member of the Saleen-Allen Speedlab team along with Terry Borcheller and Franz Konrad (third in LMGTS). He has been an official driver with Corvette Racing since 2002 (!) and has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans five times in 2002, 2004, 2005, 2006 and 2015 (in the LMGTS, LMGT1 and LMGTE Pro classes).  

This year, he finished eighth in the LMGTE Pro class with Marcel Fässler and Tommy Milner at the wheel of a Corvette C7.R.
