Journalist Gustav Büsing, former press attaché for Sauber in endurance and in F1, took his leave the day after the 83rd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. The 72 year old man's heart is failing and he left doing what he loves most in the world. A departure that was as discreet as was his presence in the press room. Yet, he will leave a big void.
A truly passionate motorsports fan, Büsing could do everything: write, commentate - a talent he put to use for Eurosport - and interview the various players in the paddock while avoiding tricky questions which earned him great respect from those with whom he interacted.
His tall silhouette with its salt and pepper beard will no longer stroll down the corridors, but his spirit will always remain since he has inspired several generations of journalists in Germany. With each visit to the Nürburgring, the plaque will remind us all that you can be a great professional all while staying very human. Tschüss Gustav!
