The German team and Filipe Albuquerque respectively won the Nations Cup and the Race of Champions this weekend. This competition was between sixteen drivers, five of whom have participated in the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
On Saturday, in front of 36,000 spectators in the Spirit Arena in Düsseldorf, Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel had a fourth consecutive title in Germany in the Nations Cup. The pair of F1 World Champions beat Great Britain's Jason Plato and Andy Priaulx, who drove the BMW M3 (decorated by Jeff Koons) in the last 24 Hours of Le Mans.
On Sunday Filipe Albuquerque created a stir by winning the individual competition against the cream of all motosport disciplines including F1, Rally, NASCAR and endurance. Albuquerque, form Portugual, drives an Audi R8 LMS in the GT3 Championship in Italy. He revealed his skills to the public by eliminating Sebastian Vettel and Sebastien Loeb. His illustrious colleague Tom Kristensen from Audi did not experience the same success by being removed by Loeb in the first round.
