In three Le Mans Classic races at the wheel of some beautiful classic cars, including the 1950s Lister Jaguar, Buncombe has notched up quite considerable experience on the Circuit de la Sarthe. As a Nissan factory driver, he also plays a role in the physical preparation of the young Nissan GT Academy drivers. Being part of the GT-R LM NISMO team is also a well-deserved reward for his loyalty to the Japanese constructor.
Alex Buncombe (driver of the n°22 Nissan GT-R LM NISMO, LM P1): "My laps in the Test Day were an unbelievable feeling. I did the circuit many times before at the Le Mans Classic, which was very helpful to know every inch of the circuit, all the curves and straights and also night driving. It was a good step for me before my first laps there with the GT-R LM NISMO. For the actual 24 Hours of Le Mans, you just have to switch your mind to modern racing, I am used to that in day-to-day racing. I love the big hand wheels of the classic cars but it is also great to experience the Le Mans circuit in an LM P1 prototype like the Nissan. Going down the Mulsanne Straight with a current prototype is just amazing. We are hoping for a dry race and qualifying so we can learn more about the car for 2016, because 2015 is a learning year for us at Nissan."
