Intercontinental Cup Le Mans - 12 Hours of Sebring

Former Formula 1 driver Alexander Wurz has built a track record in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with two wins in four appearances, the first in 1996 in his very first attempt. The great Austrian driver has every chance of making it three in June with the new Peugeot 908.

Is the 908 is so different to drive than its predecessor the 908 HDi FAP? "Yes, clearly", answered Alexander Wurz. "The new regulations took away a lot of power, something drivers don't like in general. We had a phenomenal torque and acceleration, but we've lost it, so we must carry as much speed as possible through the corner. In fact, the 908 behaves like an F3! There is less downforce and less grip. We must adapt our driving style, but a talented driver must be able to adapt. "

A clash between teammate Marc Gene and the Audi of Dindo Capello ended any hope of winning the 12 Hours of Sebring, but the goal was not to win: "Our 2011 target is loud and clear: to win the victory at Le Mans. Here it is more a work session to check that all is well in race conditions. It also allows us to strengthen the cohesion of the crew. Development work has been faster than the previous car because we have learned a lot. "

Sebring is a great classic of endurance, but nothing can replace the 24 Hours of Le Mans: "The 24 Hours of Le Mans is like the Tour de France for a cyclist. Winning the Giro or the Vuelta, it's good, but there's nothing better than winning the Tour de France. Le Mans is a passion for me. There are so many stories behind this event which takes place on a historic circuit. And I feel like Steve McQueen when I am at Le Mans! "
