For its eighth round in 2013, the American Le Mans Series (ALMS) will visit for the first time the Circuit Of The Americas, and will share on Saturday, September 21st, a weekend of racing with the FIA World Championship Endurance.
After being inaugurated by the return of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of the United States on November 18, 2012 , the Circuit Of The Americas ( COTA ) also hosted in March 2013 the second round of the Grand Am series , won by the DP Corvette of John Fogarty and Alex Gurney (son of Dan, Le Mans winner in 1967 ) . It is the turn of the ALMS to visit the Texas circuit (at 5.554 kilometres and twenty corners) before the meeting in 2014 joining with Grand Am as the Tudor United SportsCar Championship.
Klaus Graf , Lucas Luhr , and their team Muscle Milk Pickett Racing and their Honda HPD ARX-03c may in Texas be crowned as winners of the 2013 LM P1 prototype class. One of the great attractions of this penultimate round of the ALMS will be the return to the track of the DeltaWing . After leading the race at Road America on August 11th, the car will debut as a coupe , still driven by the British duo of Katherine Legge and Andy Meyrick . However, only fifteen points separate the leading teams in LM P2 the leaders being Level 5 Motorsports from Extreme Speed Motorsports, which both use the same Honda HPD ARX-03b chassis . In GT , the Corvette factory team seems to be closer to the 2013 title , while BMW is is under pressure from the return of the Viper SRT , notable for their fine comeback to the track in 2013.
For those who live in the North American continent , ESPN3 will broadcast live qualifying on Friday, September 20th from 2:40 p.m. (Eastern Time on the East Coast of the United States) , and the race ( with a duration of 2:45 ) will be streamed on Saturday, September 21 from 3:45 p.m. (Eastern Time on the East Coast of the United States ), with a delayed transmission on ESPN2 on Sunday, September 22nd from 13:00 ( time on the East Coast of the United States) . For French viewers , Motors TV will broadcast the race live on Saturday, September 21st from 21:45. Summaries follow on Monday 23rd ( 11:45 p.m. ), Tuesday 24th ( 8:15 ) Thursday 26th ( 5:15 ) and Friday, September 27th ( 6:45 p.m. ).
