Lucas Luhr (1st in P1 and overall Muscle Milk Pickett Racing #6 HPD ARX-03c): “It was not a perfect day for Muscle Milk Pickett Racing. It was tricky in the beginning because no one drove here this weekend in the wets, and I don’t remember the last time we drove in the rain. And then there were changing conditions in the circuit, sometimes greasy, sometimes they were better. I wouldn’t say I took it easy, but maybe safe. We discussed on the radio to stay on the rains. Then Klaus and all the guys involved made the right decision. Then from then on, it was business as usual. Still I had to push. Then as the track got better and better, it was in our favor. At the end of the day, it was a very good day for us. My first race was with Pickett racing in 2010, and the way the team has come along from then until today is absolutely outstanding. I get asked is it hard to race without a lot of competition. I’m really happy the way the team is working and Klaus and I get along well. We constantly keep improving and that’s the main thing.”
Simon Pagenaud (1st in P2 Level 5 Motorsports #551-P2 HPD ARX-03b): “It’s good to be back here, and with a team like Level 5. They are a top team. I was able to compete with them in Sebring and got second there. I was able to join Scott here this weekend, and Ryan hurt his wrist so I am filling in for him, so the reason is not nice. It’s not easy to go from the Indycars and get in the P2. It’s different tires and a different skill set, the traffic is something to learn, but I’m always happy to keep coming back to the ALMS. I’m glad to help Scott get points in his championship. And it was a fun race.”
Marc Goossens (First in GT SRT Motorsports #91-GT SRT Viper GTS-R Viper V-10): “I’m gonna let Domonik explain how he got us up front. I want to say big thank you to so many people for building such a great car. It’s not the history of the factory backed Viper since 2000, but we are only 1 year old. This is the first track we’ve been at twice. We had a pole for the sister car, the 93 and now the win for this new Viper. And I can’t say thank you enough for Dominik for a great stint and a great race. The first stop took a bit longer, we had to fix some body work, but we mad it up on the track. We had to save fuel, but we had to push as well. Man, was it a great race. (about the last stint) “It was the first time we had been running up front, so we speculated and gambled a little bit on the fuel. There is no secret the last safety car helped, we were very low to say the least. The pit stops were perfect and they did a super job in pit lane. Now we gather more data and move on to the next race.”
