Ferrari AF Corse's #50 Ferrari 499P driven by Antonio Fuoco/Miguel Molina/Nicklas Nielsen claimed the top step on the overall podium at the 92nd 24 Hours of Le Mans on Sunday. Here are the trio's reactions after this long-awaited win.
Antonio Fuoco could barely contain his joy after the win: No words can capture the moment. I am proud to be a part of the Ferrari family. We came close to victory last year, but the sister car crew won. I am happy we are winners today, and with two cars on the podium.
Nicklas Nielsen shared his thoughts on the final stint of the race and described the challenges he overcame: I thought everything was lost. I knew the pace was good in the wet at the end, but it was a long last stint and a long last lap. It was impossible to imagine. I worried about avoiding any risks and getting to the finish line as quickly as possible. I just had to manage the lead.
Miguel Molina is extremely proud of this historic victory: In a couple of moments, we risked to stay on slicks, but the last call to change to wets came at the right moment. It was unbelievable. We experienced tense moments, but we got through them and I am really proud.
While Porsche still leads the FIA Endurance Hypercar Manufacturers Championship, Ferrari now trails the German carmaker by only nine points after winning the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans. Only nine points separate Lotterer/Estre/Vanthoor and Fuoco/Molina/Nielsen as well in the Hypercar Drivers' classification.
