Single-seater open wheel specialists ART Grand Prix team could participate in the next 24 Hours of Le Mans * with a prototype. The founder of the team Frederic Vasseur answers some questions:
There is a rumour about a future entry of ART Grand Prix at the 24 Hours of Le Mans *. Can you confirm?
Frédéric Vasseur: "Yes, but it is still a draft. After long years spent exclusively in 'monoplace', we would like to diversify our business. I was present at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in recent years, and I followed with interest the development of the Signature team as we meet regularly in single seater racing. Endurance is a discipline that is very attractive."
Will you be associated with Lotus whose colours you will defend in GP2 next year?
"It could be a solution, but nothing is decided. Lotus will not enter in LM P2 earlier than 2012, what happens until then? We must find a solution for next year."
In which category and with what equipment do you envision the upcoming season?
"We are in contact with several suppliers, both in LM P1 in LM P2, but no decision is taken. We will try to establish a serious program, as we have always done. Single seater or endurance prototypes, the rules are the same ... We need the best drivers, best chassis, best engine and the best team! I can only say that our project is on track and has a good chance of succeeding."
When will we know formally?
"I hope to confirm before the end of the year."
* Subject to a request for entry and acceptance.
