Starting in 2014 and for the next three seasons the CN category has been incorporated into the Asian Le Mans Series. The arrival of the CN prototypes will boost the field in the championship, open the door to a greater number of teams and act as a spring board to the LM P2 category.
After the victory of a Morgan LM P2 in the 2013 Asian Le Mans Series, Onroak Automotive is pursuing its involvement in the Asian championship and the Le Mans-based constructor will be present with LM P2 prototypes and CNs.
To encourage the entry of the Ligier JS 53 EVOs in the Asian Le Mans Series Onroak Automotive has announced the creation of the 2014 Ligier Asian Challenge*. The drivers achieving the highest position in the classification of the best four results in the five rounds of the Asian Le Mans Series at the wheel of a Ligier JS 53 EVO, will be given a test in an LM P2 on the Sepang circuit in Malaysia the day after the final event of the season on 8th December 2014.
Thus, the constructor is offering drivers who want to make the move from CN to LM P2 a marvellous opportunity.
Jacques Nicolet, Onroak Automotive President: “I’m very happy with the ACO’s decision to open up the Asian Le Mans Series to CN prototypes, which provides a stepping stone to LM P2 and the Le Mans 24 Hours. The Ligier Asian Challenge follows the same path; and with this project we hope we can encourage the development of this new category in the Asian Le Mans Series. In addition to the two Morgan LM P2s already entered by OAK Racing and Craft Bamboo Racing, two Ligier JS 53 EVOs have been sent off to the Asian continent for clients who want to run them in 2014. These CN prototypes thanks to their excellent price/performance ratio will quickly swell the ranks of prototypes in Asia. As in all the series in which its chassis are being raced, an Onroak Automotive team will provide technical backup for our Liger CN client teams throughout the season."
