There was plenty of scope for sparring among Asian Le Mans Series teams at the 7.77-kilometre track which staged the 4 Hours of The Bend, round 2 in the current championship. Victory was claimed by the G-Drive Racing by Algarve #26 Aurus 01, which also won the opening round, the 4 Hours of Shanghai. Eurasia Motorsport’s #36 Ligier JS P217 was second and the Thunderhead Carlin Racing #45 Dallara P217 took third place. At the wheel of the Eurasia Motorsport #1 Ligier JS P217, New Zealander Shane van Gisbergen was impressive in his first outing in a prototype. However, his team’s race was cut short by a gearbox issue.
In LMP2 Am, Rick Ware Racing cars took first and second place with the #52 and #25 Ligier JS P217s. This is the American Nascar team’s first foray in endurance.
The #2 Norma M30 won the LMP3 class and the GT crown went to Car Guy and the #7 Ferrari 488 GT3.
Asian Le Mans Series competitors meet again on 14–15 February in Malaysia for round 3, the 4 Hours of Sepang, an evening race.
