The 63rd edition of this great sportscar event was won by Audi for the first time, driving with Mattias Ekström, Timo Scheider and Greg Franchi. Their R8 LMS #33 was entered with Audi Sport Team WRT, in their first race as a representative of the German manufacturer. This car had already set the best performance in qualifying (seventh) of the seven Audis entered in the Belgian Ardennes. Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich: "Vincent Vosse’s team really did a fantastic job during its home race. "Mattias, Greg and Timo drove fast and without mistakes - and it was exactly this that was the key to victory this weekend alongside the reliability and speed of the R8 LMS."
Ekström / Scheider / Franchi took the top step of the 24 Hours of Spa podium ahead of the GT3 BMW Z4 Werner / Sandström / Hurtgen and AMG Mercedes SLS GT3 Lémeret / Heyer / Jäger. The second Audi R8 Audi Sport Team LMS WRT, driven by Ortelli / Longin / Alburquerque finished fourth.
