The 24 Hours of Nurburgring in May, the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June ... 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps in July? To score this this triple is one of the objectives of Audi in 2012, who will be present in force in the Belgian Ardennes on 28th and 29th July, with four former winners of the Le Mans 24 Hours.
Four Audi R8 LMS will contest the ultra competitive 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, reserved for vehicles of the GT3 class. Audi Sport Team Phoenix will be fielding a trio of winners of the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans, record holder Tom Kristensen (eight successes), Andre Lotterer and Marcel Fässler (two wins each in 2011 and 2012).
The second car will be driven by Frank Stippler, who gave Audi its first victory at the 24 Hours Nürburgring in May, together with Andrea Piccini and René Rast. Two other ultra R8 LMS are entered by Audi Sport Team WRT with Oliver Jarvis and Marco Bonanomi who were third at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2012, and teammate Edward Sandström. The winner in La Sarthe in 1998 in a Porsche with Allan McNish and Laurent Aiello, Stephane Ortelli will share the wheel of the other ultra R8 LMS with Christopher Haase and Christopher Mies.
