First occupant of the '56th pit' during the 24 Heures du Mans 2012 the Nissan DeltaWing prototype ran as an innovative car outside classification. The car has earned an award from Autosport magazine.

During the Autosport Awards, which were held in London, it received the "Pioneering and Innovation Award". It was presented to the designer Ben Bowlby, accompanied for the occasion by Marino Franchitti, who was the development driver of the Nissan DeltaWing.

Andrew van de Burgt (Autosport Editor-in-Chief): “No matter whether you are a hard core motorsports fan, or somebody who doesn’t follow the sport at all – one look at the car and you can tell that it is totally different from anything seen before."

After the unfortunate retirement of Michael Krumm, Marino Franchitti and Satoshi Motoyama (from left to right in the photo above) in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Gunnar Jeannette and Lucas Ordonez brought the Nissan DeltaWing home in fifth position in the fifteenth edition of Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta. The car is currently on display on the Nissan stand at the Los Angeles Auto Show, which closes its doors on the 9th of December, and will also be present on the Michelin stand at the Detroit Auto Show in January 2013.
