BMW will again run two BMW M3 GT2 in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup in 2011 through two different teams, one in Europe/Asia and the other for the United States. Thus, Team Rahal Letterman Lanigan (RLL) will carry the colours of BMW in the American Le Mans Series while Schnitzer will do the same for Europe and Asia. It's in the new Pro LM GTE that the German manufacturer has decided to enter with no less than five works drivers.
Andy Priaulx, triple world champion in touring cars (WTCC) and ETCC champion in 2004. Augusto Farfus, recent winner of the 24 Hours of the Nürburgring and Jörg Müller, a former winner of the prestigious Macau Grand Prix F3, all three are from the WTCC when BMW was officially entered with Team Schnitzer and Team BMW UK. The first two will strengthen RLL at Sebring and Road Atlanta assisted by the other two works drivers, namely Dirk Müller and Dirk Werner.
As in 2010, RLL will run two cars throughout the American Le Mans Series to try to hold on to the Teams and Manufacturers' title acquired in the last lap of the last race at Road Atlanta last year. Alongside Dirk Müller and Dirk Werner, Bill Auberlen and Joey Hand will return to defend the colours of the Munich manufacturer. For the 12 Hours of Sebring, which kicks off the 2011 ILMC in March, one of the BMW M3 will be driven by Dirk Muller, Andy Priaulx and Joey Hand, while the sister car will be in the hands of Bill Auberlen, Dirk Werner and Augusto Farfus.
