Darren Turner: Aston Martin driver at Le Mans and "marathon man" for a good cause

Darren Turner, three-time class winner at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, will take part in the famous London Marathon this coming Sunday to raise funds for the Born Free Foundation, an international conservation and animal rights organization.

Darren Turner - an official Aston Martin driver who won the LMGTE Pro class last year for the final outing of the previous version Vantage - will be taking the start at the London Marathon for the third time. The goal is to finish the race in less than four hours, which the Brit has yet to be able to do, and also raise 3,000 pounds on the JustGiving platform for the Born Free Foundation which works tirelessly to protect wildlife and save animals kept in captivity.

After three wins and an impressive eight podium finishes, including five class victories in a row between 2004 and 2008 (Ferrari 500 Maranello and Aston Martin DRB9) at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, Darren Turner is continuing his collaboration with the British marque along with the "Dane Train" of Nicki Thiim and Marco Sørensen.

At Le Mans, the Vantage - which has already covered 15,000 km in testing sessions - will once again face off against the Chevrolet Corvette C7.R, the Ferrari 488 GTE EVO, the Ford GT and the Porsche 911 RSR, not to mention the BMW M8 GTE, marking the return of the Bavarian manufacturer at the 24 Hours. The Vantage will only compete against the last four in LMGTE Pro class for the entire 2018-2019 Super Season of the World Endurance Championship (FIA WEC).
