David Brabham brings Sergio Rinland into his team

David Brabham, winner at the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans along with Alexander Wurz and Marc Gen

The Australian driver is pursuing his goals: to participate in the World Endurance Championship and in the 24 Hours of Le Mans with his own team, Brabham Racing. The uniqueness of the project is that it is the world's first online motorsport content, subscription based model, and has become the world's largest successful sports crowdfunding campaign. Currently, it boasts a community of members from 64 countries.

Sergio Rinland's recruitment is a powerful coup. Rinland has great motorsports experience including time in namely the IndyCar Series and in Formula 1 where he spent 20 years of his life (Williams, Benetton, Sauber, Arrows, and also Brabham).

David Brabham seems of course thrilled with the Argentinian designer's arrival: "Brabham is pleased to announce former Brabham F1 designer Sergio Rinland as Technical Advisor to the Brabham Group. His role will help determine the technical landscape and future technologies that represent our brand DNA, encompassing pioneering thinking, inspired engineering and innovation, as we plan for Brabham Racing's return via the FIA World Endurance Championship. Sergio and I worked together in F1 at Brabham and again at Le Mans in the Team Modena Aston Martin (David Brabham competed at the 24 Hours of Le Mans with this team in 2006 along with Antonio Garcia and Nelson Piquet, Jr. in an Aston Martin DBR9, finishing ninth overall, fourth in LM GT1, editor's note). Sergio's expertise across new technologies and education makes him the ideal person to support the Brabham Racing team and inspire future engineers through Brabham-Digital, our knowledge sharing and e-learning platform."

Sergio Rinland is happy to be returning to the fold so to speak: "It is a pleasure to accompany David on his journey to re-establish Brabham as a household name in motorsport, a name very close to my heart as its last Chief Designer in Formula 1. I share with David his vision of where motorsport should be heading, from both the technical and business points of view."

In addition to 2006, with Team Modena, Sergio Rinland worked with Epsilon Euskadi for the 2008 24 Hours of Le Mans campaign.
