If you are of legal driving age and live in one of the eligible countries, you have until 12 May at 03:59 GMT to apply to buy a new Ford GT. Your application should be supported by material, such as videos, that demonstrate your love of motorsports, GT cars and Ford. The rules stipulate that candidates must show their interest in classic cars and/or an implication in motorsports.
Ford management will select the happy few, who will be informed by email. A response is required within 120 hours, after which the option to buy will be offered to a person on the waiting list. The first 150 cars will be available in 2017 and a second batch is scheduled for 2018.
If your passion for motorsports is deeper than your pockets, you can always create the Ford GT of your dreams using the online design application that offers a choice of eight colours and trims. Or else, be content with admiring the two special editions that will soon be unveiled.
Better still, come to Le Mans on 18–19 June and see the competition version on track in the ultimate endurance test, the 24 Hours of Le Mans. This year marks the fiftieth anniversary of Ford’s first Le Mans win. The American manufacturer is celebrating by entering four cars in LM GTE Pro, two of which are currently competing in the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship and the other two in the World Endurance Championship.
