Earl Bamber in a 1998 24 Hours of Le Mans Porsche (video)

It was not at the wheel of the Porsche 919 Hybrid in which he won at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June that Earl Bamber conducted a demonstration at the Hampton Downs circuit during the New Zealand motorsports festival, instead in the Porsche LMP1-98 that took the start at Le Mans in 1998 for Joest Racing.

A Porsche won at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1998, but it was a 911 GT1 - and not one similar to the No. 8 LM P1 that Pierre-Henri Raphanel, David Murry and James Weaver, who had to retire during the race - that Earl Bamber brought to life again on his home turf.
