Having won the Endurance LM P2 Drivers Trophy last year with G-Drive Racing in a Ligier JS P2-Nissan, Le Mans native Julien Canal will reunite with a car he knows well, even though it will be in the ELMS - the British outfit's favourite playing field - instead of the World Endurance Championship (WEC).
Julien Canal: "I am very happy to run this year with Greaves Motorsport. This team has already proven its high level of performance. I have two years’ experience in LM P2 with Ligier and I will bring all my knowledge of that car to the team. Our common goal is to win the European Le Mans Series and I trust 100% in Greaves Motorsport to realize this goal."
The semi-professional driver, who participated in the first edition of Le Mans Passion Share with skippers last December, already has three class wins at the 24 Hours of Le Mans, one in LM GT1, a defunct class, and two in LM GTE Am. In 2015, he claimed the third step on the podium in LM P2 in the Ligier JS P2 of Russian team G-Drive Racing.
In 2016, Greaves Motorsport is entering two cars in the ELMS, a Ligier JS P2 chosen for the 24 Hours of Le Mans and a Gibson 015S which, for now, is first on the reserve list for Le Mans. If another team withdraws, the second car of the outfit led by Jacob Greaves will automatically be extended an invitation to take the start on June 18th.
