ELMS – Everything you need to know about the upcoming 4 Hours of Le Castellet

The third round of the 2021 European Le Mans Series is set for Sunday 6 June at the Paul Ricard circuit in Le Castellet, France. Will Team WRT pull off a third win in a row this season?

A large field of 42 cars will compete in this coming weekend's 4 Hours of Le Castellet, third round of the 2021 ELMS season: 16 in both LMP2 and LMP3, nine in LMGTE and one in the Innovative Car class.

Thanks to back-to-back wins at the 4 Hours of Barcelona and 4 Hours of the Red Bull Ring, Team WRT's #41 ORECA 07-Gibson is clearly the car to beat. At the wheel of the prototype, Robert Kubica, Louis Delétraz and Yifei Ye have been flawless, and will be looking to dominate United Autosports, a two-time winner at this circuit. G-Drive Racing is also one to watch after its two second place finishes here in 2020. French driver Jean-Eric Vergne is back, joining forces with Paul-Loup Chatin and Patrice Lafargue in IDEC SPORT Racing's #28 ORECA 07-Gibson.

In LMP3, Cool Racing's #19 Ligier JS P320-Nissan has also scored two consecutive victories this year, and after a tough start to the season, United Autosports' #2 and #3 Ligier JS P320-Nissans will be hoping to right the ship.

Will the LMGTE class see yet another win for a Ferrari F488 GTE Evo? That's the question on everyone's minds. Winner at the 4 Hours of the Red Bull Ring, the goal for AF Corse's #88 driven by François Perrodo, Emmanuel Collard and Alessio Rovera is to repeat the feat. The same is true for Iron Lynx's #80 winner at the 4 Hours of Barcelona. The Ferraris will take on two Porsche 911 RSR-19s and one Aston Martin Vantage AMR.

After participating in the 4 Hours of Barcelona, the Association SRT team's #84 ORECA 07-Gibson will continue its preparation for the 89th 24 Hours of Le Mans (21-22 August) in the Innovative Car class. The prototype will be shared by Aoki Takuma, Nigel Bailly and Pierre Sancinena.

Qualifying is scheduled this Saturday at 13:40 local time for LMGTE cars, 14:00 for LMP3s and 14:20 for LMP2s. You can follow the sessions live and in-full on the European Le Mans Series YouTube channel and official website. You can also watch the race either way starting Sunday at 11:00 local time.
