Franck Mailleux, with five entries at Le Mans in the past five years, will compete in the 2014 season of the European Le Mans Series with the Swiss team Race Performance - a candidate for an invitation to the 82nd edition of the 24 Hours.
The Saint-Malonese driver has finished in second place in the LMP2 class at Le Mans, and won the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup - predecessor to the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) - in the same class with the Oreca Signature-Nissan in 2011. He will return to an Oreca car with the Race Performance team after having driven the Morgan of Swiss outfit Morand Racing, in 2013.
Fifth in the LM P2 class at Le Mans last year, due to financial reasons Franck Mailleux had to leave his seat in ELMS to Christian Klien during the season. It is therefore with pleasure that he has found a ride: "I thank Michel Frey (driver-owner of Race Performance) and Urs Meier (Chief Engineer) for the confidence they placed in me. Race Performance is an experienced team. and highly motivated. With my 5 years of experience in endurance, 5 starts at the 24 Hours of Le Mans and ILMC title in 2011, I think we have everything to be competitive in ELMS and earn an invitation to the 24 Hours of Le Mans."
Next stop for Franck Mailleux and the team is Thursday, February 13th at the press conference to announce the teams invited to the 2014 24 Hours of Le Mans (ticket information).
