ELMS – HIghlights and winner reactions from the 4 Hours of Barcelona

Orlen Team WRT, Cool Racing and Iron Lynx triumphed in their respective classes at the 4 Hours of Barcelona. Here are the race highlights as well as reactions from winners Louis Delétraz, Mattew Bell and Matteo Cressoni.

Louis Delétraz, #41 ORECA 07-Gibson of Orlen Team WRT: "It was my first start in endurance so it was something quite new and I wasn't sure what to expect exactly. I was very surprised by what the G-Drive did by driving so slow that it created cars behind. I just tried to follow the rules, not overtaking before the line, but it wasn't that easy. Then as the race went on, I couldn't really pass. I saw an opportunity and prayed [it would work]. So I pushed and that was the end of my stint, so I tried to give the maximum gap to my teammates and have a clean race. It was pretty straightforward. As a team, everyone is new. I think everyone did a great job and I think the best way to start was this today so thank you."

Mattew Bell, #19 Ligier JS P320-Nissan of Cool Racing: "We were struggling a little bit this weekend, managing our front tires. So from the get-go, we were just trying to look after those. We knew the #4 had done sort of the opposite strategy as us, starting with the Silver and finishing with the Bronze [driver]. So we were just trying to cruise up to them and manage the gap behind as well whilst looking after the tires. Looking after everything, and then in some traffic I managed to snatch the lead. After that my front tires were gone. I was managing them ok but then there was a battle with some of the GT leaders. That really...trying to negotiate those guys, that really destroyed my front tires getting through those guys. Then it was just a case of keeping it smooth to the end, make no mistakes and bring it home. If we can win when we're a little bit off, then I'm looking forward to the ones when we're going to be on pace. A big thanks to Cool Racing, they were brilliant this weekend and we look forward to building from here."

Matteo Cressoni, #80 Ferrari F488 GTE Evo of Iron Lynx: "The race was fantastic absolutely. I was just a little bit scared before the end of the stint when I had a slow puncture and we had to anticipate a pit [stop]. But yes, to battle with the Pro drivers is always super nice. I want to say really thanks to the team because they did an amazing job since the winter. In pit stops the guys did fantastic. And with these two teammates, we cannot finish any other way. We deserve the win today. We showed the pace. All of us were really fast and the car was perfect. I hope to repeat this at the next one."
