ELMS – Orlen Team WRT wins the 4 Hours of the Red Bull Ring

Orlen Team WRT's #41 ORECA 07-Gibson has won the 4 Hours of the Red Bull Ring, second round of the 2021 European Le Mans Series. This is the second win in a row for the trio Louis Delétraz, Robert Kubica and Yifei Ye.

Orlen Team WRT placed the #41 ORECA 07-Gibson on the top step of the podum at the 4 Hours of the Red Bull Ring, second round of the 2021 ELMS season, by being fast, strategic and adept at dealing with challenging weather. Drivers Louis Delétraz, Robert Kubica and Yifei Ye pulled off a second win in a row after the 4 Hours of Barcelona on 18 April. Robert Kubica: "It was a tough race. We made good decisions at the right moments and didn't make any mistakes once again. It was rather stressful with the rain and choosing the correct tires which is fundamental to win." Orlean Team WRT won with a 21-second lead on G-Drive Racing's #26 Aurus 01-Gibson, followed by the Russian team's #25. Racing Team Turkey and Ultimate finished in fourth and fifth places, respectively.

A repeat of the 4 Hours of Barcelona in LMP3, Cool Racing's #19 Ligier JS P320-Nissan shared by Nicolas Maulini, Matthew Bell and Niklas Kruetten triumphed, with Eurointernational's #11 Ligier JS P320-Nissan and Graff's #8 Ligier JS P320-Nissan rounding out the podium. Matthew Bell: "The last 30 minutes of the race were really hard. You had to stay focused. The team made good strategic decisions and this is truly a team win."

In LMGTE, the Ferrari F488 GTE Evos doubled down on their domination during qualifying. Pole-sitter AF Corse's #88 won the class thanks to François Perrodo, Emmanuel Collard and Alessio Rovera, trailed by Spirit Of Race's #55 and Iron Lynx's #80. François Perrodo: "It was an exciting race at a fantastic circuit. I incurred a penalty for failure to respect track limits, then I passed the wheel to Emmanuel who did great work. Alessio proved his speed once again. The end of the race was difficult as other competitors were catching up to us, but we remained focused on winning."

The third race of the season is set for 6 June at the Le Castellet circuit in France.
